About Me
My passion for nutrition began as an adolescent on the Kansas prairie interested in how plants can impact our health and wellbeing and continues to this day. I deepened my commitment to understanding how food affects our health during my undergraduate studies in biochemistry at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. I earned my master’s degree in nutrition at Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA where the foundation of our coursework was rooted in science but also included the mind, body, and spirit when considering overall health.
I have spent much of my professional career as a clinical oncology dietitian, and studying behavior change outcomes in cancer survivors. Teaching is also a passion of mine. I am an assistant professor at my alma mater, Bastyr University. I teach in both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
The courses I teach include Sports Nutrition, Metabolism, Bioactive Compounds, Microbiome, and Nutrigenomics. I am also a clinic supervisor to master’s level students at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health.
I provide science-based nutrition education to all my clients and am committed to meeting every client where they are on their journey to make peace with food.
In my free time, I love being active outside downhill mountain biking, rock climbing, camping, snowboarding, and running with my husband and our two kids.

Kate’s Approach
I aim to collaborate with clients to harness their power to achieve their lifestyle goals.
I am dedicated to client-centered care where the client is in the driver's seat, and I act as a guide on your journey to realize your best self.
My commitment to science drives my practice to provide my clients with the most up-to-date science-based recommendations to meet each person where they are to help optimize and realize their goals, whether it is to become active, stay active, or optimize performance in whatever sport or activity a person loves.
I am here to help clients better understand their unique genetic profiles and to cultivate life long habits to optimize performance in athletes and non-athletes.
I am dedicated to ensuring all my clients feed themselves faithfully daily to support optimal cognitive function, lower disease risk, and improve performance.
Every one of us has the power to achieve our goals, no matter how big or small. One can approach any goal or idea by playing the short or the long game. I am here to play the long game, which means understanding what is getting in the way of a person achieving their goals, working with every client in building new neuronal networks through setting SMART goals to achieve lifelong goals and discovering the internal motivation to live your life as your best self.
I am so excited to partner with you on your journey to discover your best self.
