About Me

As a young adult experiencing undiagnosed IBS symptoms, I learned firsthand the connection between what I eat and how I feel. This sparked my interest in learning to prepare delicious, nourishing food. I attended a farm-to-table cooking school and went on to spend eight years working in the culinary world as a baker, production cook, kitchen manager, and personal chef. As a personal chef, I developed customized menus to support clients with a variety of health concerns, nutritional needs, and taste preferences.

My decision to return to school and pursue nutrition was deeply influenced by losing my father to cancer in 2017. I was struck by how little nutrition guidance he received during his treatment and became passionate about helping others access the nutrition support they deserve. I earned my master's degree in nutrition from the University of Washington in 2022. During my training, I focused on diabetes management and completed a thesis exploring eating attitudes among college students during the COVID-19 pandemic through the lens of Ellyn Satter's evidence-based Eating Competence model.

I am passionate about helping individuals and families navigate nutrition and health concerns in practical, approachable ways while developing a positive relationship with food and eating. Becoming a mom has further deepened my interest in pediatric nutrition and parent-child feeding dynamics, which I approach through the lens of eating competence. I especially enjoy helping people of all ages build confidence in meal planning, cooking, and creating a nourishing relationship with food.

Jenn’s Approach

I believe cooking is a powerful pathway to better health. My background in both professional cooking and nutrition shapes the way I work with individuals and families, helping make nutrition feel practical, approachable, and relevant to everyday life.

I am passionate about translating complex nutrition science into clear, actionable guidance that people can actually use. My goal is to take evidence-based recommendations and make them feel less overwhelming and more achievable in the kitchen and at home.

My experience includes a focus on diabetes during my time at the University of Washington, as well as supporting eating competence for families with children 6 months of age and older. I believe that helping families build positive, practical relationships with food can create a strong foundation for long-term health.

I also bring research experience in cancer prevention and survivorship. Through my work with Cook for Your Life and the Greenlee Lab at Fred Hutch, I lead the development of educational content for research studies focused on improving the health of cancer survivors.

Across all of my work, I aim to connect nutrition science with real life—using food, cooking, and practical education to help people feel more confident making choices that support their health.
